A FEW THINGS
YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING.
The practical details, before you make a plan.
Is this a dating service?
October404 is built for friendship. The point is a small local circle and something to do together. Joining is not an invitation for romantic approaches.
Is there an active group in my city?
We’re at the founding-interest stage. All cities currently use a waitlist. Signing up does not confirm an active chapter, a place in a trio, or a meeting date. We’ll contact you directly if a suitable next step becomes available.
What happens after I sign up?
Your request is saved and you immediately receive a Missing Saturday itinerary on the confirmation page. If a local introduction becomes possible, we may contact you using the email you provided. There is no automatic matching or guaranteed response date.
Do I have to explain why my plans changed?
No. We ask for practical preferences and an optional outing idea. You can share as much or as little backstory as you like when meeting people. Please leave sensitive personal details out of your 404 Card.
How much does it cost?
Joining the founding waitlist and receiving the guide is free. No card is requested and no subscription starts. Future hosted introductions may have a fee, shown before you choose to book. Travel, food and venue costs are separate and should be agreed beforehand.
Why three people?
A trio gives the conversation more than one direction and lets each person bring a plan. It is small enough to remember everyone’s name and large enough to take some pressure off a first meeting.
What ages can join?
The service is for adults aged 18 and over. The concept is especially suited to people in their late twenties to mid-forties, but that is not a strict membership age range.
Can I join if I haven’t moved?
Yes. You might have stayed in the same city while your relationship, work, caring responsibilities, or social circle changed. You don’t need to qualify your experience to belong on the waitlist.
What about accessibility or a small budget?
Choose free outings if that suits you. Before accepting an introduction, you can discuss step-free access, quieter venues, seating, travel distance or other practical needs. We cannot guarantee every venue is suitable; details should be confirmed for each outing.
Are people background checked?
We do not currently offer identity verification or background checks. Meet in public, keep your own travel arrangements, and use your judgment. If a future hosted experience includes additional checks, its invitation will explain exactly what they cover.
What if I don’t click with my trio?
There’s no obligation to become close friends or continue meeting. Be considerate, let people know if plans change, and decline further contact clearly if you want to. No friendship outcome is guaranteed.
Can I host or start a chapter?
Yes. Choose “Host introductions” or “Help start a chapter” on the signup form. This records your interest; it does not appoint you as a host or authorize you to run paid events under the name.
